At our Open Community Meeting in November 2025, Senior Sergeant Brennan from Hillarys Police Station provided us with a policing update for Kallaroo and the surrounding suburbs. We were provided with an overview of the Hillarys Police Station, crime trends for Kallaroo and actions that the Police have taken as well as important information about what our community can do to help.
He provided an update on an incident this month involving reports of an ebike ‘ride out’ and outlined what actions the police took, including early engagement by Hillarys Police A/Officer in Charge which is highly likely to have stopped the event from taking place.
He encouraged residents to report any non-urgent incidents as soon as they can via -
https://www.crimestopperswa.com.au/ provides the community with the ability to report matters anonymously (or provide details), and submit images/videos which are then able to be accessed by Hillarys Police.
Alternatively, 131 444 if police attendance is required, or in person at the station or by calling 08 9403 1000, but given the nature of this type of complaint, Crime-Stoppers website would be the primary advice recommended.
Important Note: Only take images or video if it is safe to do so and for anything urgent call 000 immediately.
eBike Rules Overview
The major rules that apply to eBikes are:
- Riders must be 16 years or older to use an eBike with its motor engaged.
- The motor can have a maximum power output up to 250 watts.
- The bike needs human power to make it move - it is not meant to be ridden using the motor alone (like a motorcycle).
- The road rules applying to regular bicycle riders also apply to eBike riders.
Not all electric bicycles sold in WA are legal to ride on WA roads and paths. Always check before you buy. eBikes that don’t meet the requirements for power assisted pedal cycles cannot be legally used on WA roads or paths. More information is available from the presentation from the night or from the Road Safety Commission's website
eRideables Rules Overview
Only people aged sixteen and over are allowed to use eRideables.
An eRideable is an electric rideable device that:
- has at least one wheel
- is designed for one person
- doesn't go faster than 25km/h on level ground
- weighs 25kg or less
- is no more than 125cm long, 70cm wide and 135cm high.
Examples include eScooters, eSkateboards, hoverboards, eSkates, and eUnicycles.
Other devices such as mobility scooters, motorised wheelchairs, or low-powered motorised scooters for children are not considered eRideables and are covered by their own rules. More information is available from the presentation from the night or from the Road Safety Commission's website
